The Columbia and Western Trail Society is a non-profit organization who relies on the dedicated efforts of our volunteers. Without the continuous involvement and hard work of our volunteers such trail development, maintenance, safety and education could never become a reality. If you are interested in volunteering with the organization or trail maintenance please contact us and we will be happy to speak to you further on volunteer opportunities that suit your skills. Of course being a non-profit organization we are always happy to receive donations from individuals and /or corporations who are in support of our mandate and activities. We’d like to encourage all trail users to become members of the Columbia and Western Trail Society. Annual memberships are $15 for individuals, $25 for a family. Your support is vital for the continued development and maintenance of the trails. Your membership is a formal statement of support.

The Columbia and Western Trail Society (CWTS) is a community group originally formed in 1998 to promote the development of a recreational trail along the recently abandoned Boundary Subdivision of the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) in the West Kootenay region of BC. A registered society under the BC Society Act, the CWTS has an elected board of directors, a constitution and bylaws. Membership in the society is open to all and members are encouraged to participate in the ongoing maintenance and management of the trail as volunteers.

The CWTS is associated with Trails BC and the Trans-Canada Trail Foundation as well as other trail stewardship groups active in developing and managing the Columbia and Western Trail.
